My first commissioned painting of a cow: "Shasta"

"Shasta"

A few weeks ago I was commissioned to do a painting of a cow. My client asked that it be a brown cow with a white tuft of hair on her forehead. Luckily, we live near a farm where I was able to find the perfect cow! Not only did I get to meet our new neighbors, but they welcomed me with open arms, a pair of boots, and an up-close introduction to the herd. Photographing the cows was an adventure in itself. There were so many big beautiful models! I'm so grateful for that experience and hope to visit again soon.

After going through all of the photos, I decided to paint Shasta. I loved her sweet personality and curiosity in the pasture.

Bright colors, a touch of texture, and shimmery highlights give "Shasta" a contemporary tone. I'm excited to send this happy cow to her new NC home!

Cheers♥

.... I have a feeling there may
be a few more cow portraits
in my near future!

    1. Thanks so much! I haven't spent much time around cows but was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and fun they are! Zach may need to watch out.. I might just need a pet cow!
