Kate, Jodi, Emery, and I made a spontaneous trip yesterday to Decorah, Iowa. We needed a few things from the co-op and Ace Kitchen Place. (I picked up a pastry blender and pastry brush... you'll see why soon!) After our shopping, we decided to have an early lunch at Koreana Japanese Cuisine. This was my first Sushi in the Midwest... and it did impress! Our server was fun, energetic and oh-so-descriptive. I always get a spicy tuna roll, and he helped me choose their crispy tempura-fried spider roll. Compared to the tempura shrimp roll, the spider roll was described as having "more girth and fillings with the same crispy tempura fried shrimp!" The rolls were fresh, full of flavor, very filling. I am so glad I found a good place to eat Sushi near Saint Olaf! We will definitely be back when we visit Decorah. :)

For my family and friends not familiar with the area, Decorah is a beautiful historic college town about forty-five minutes north of Saint Olaf, Iowa. Decorah has a huge Norwegian influence, is home to Luther College, has fun shops, great restaurants (some of my favorites: Mabe's Pizza • OldArmory BBQ • The Whippy Dip and now on the list... Koreana!), art galleries, the Oneota Food Co-op, and more!

Just around the corner is the annual Decorah studio art tour: Oct 3rd, 4th and 5th. To learn more visit  http://www.iowaarttour.com. Travel through gorgeous Northeast Iowa, see all of the fall colors settling in, and meet fantastic artists on your journey. I went last year and highly recommend it. And now ya know, there will be a yummy variety of good-eats along your way! ♥

  1. Also need to try La Rana and Runiyat. They are my favorite restaurants in the area.
