Today was an extra special, slightly emotional, absolutely surreal, wonderful day! I guess I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that our baby girl is officially ONE!

I'll never forget this weekend one year ago, when we brought our baby into the world. It was not an easy weekend. I mean, is any labor easy?  However, it was totally worth it! It's been the most amazing, exhausting, scary, love-filled, emotional, most challenging year of my life, and I'm so grateful for each moment of it. I cannot put into words how much love I have for this tiny human. Somehow, my love for her grows even more each day.

Happy 1st Birthday, Emmajean!

Emmajean loves having her Gima Dawn in town!

Daddy and Mommy bought this little cherub a swing for her first birthday!

I'm so grateful to have been raised by such a strong, supportive, faithful, understanding mom. I'm grateful for her example and unconditional love. I'm grateful for her guidance and reassurance when I call her with some crazy question or parenting fear. I'm grateful for the technology to be able to feel close to my family and friends who are 1000 miles away and beyond. I'm grateful for a truly spectacular husband. I'm grateful for a wonderful mom-in-law, grandmas, aunts, cousins, and friends who've also shown the world what it looks like to be amazing moms. Most of all I'm grateful for love, for grace, and for the out-of-this-world experience it is to be Emmajean's mommy.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing moms and mother figures out there. I admire you all!

It was extra-special to share my very first Mother's Day with my baby girl's first birthday.
Of course, I had to bake her a little cake!

I think it was a hit!

The Left Bank Shop and Gallery | Open

The Left Bank Shop & Gallery
at The McGregor-Marquette Center for the Arts
158  Main Street, P.O. Box 451
McGregor, Iowa 52157

Open 7 days a week | 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The Left Bank Shop and Gallery is officially open for the 2017 season! There was a soft opening last week of the retail gallery, and there will be a special exhibit opening on Friday, June 2nd, 2017.

The retail gallery is stocked full of ART from the the area's best artists, and you can find everything from traditional oil paintings to contemporary art, funky cool silverware jewelry, handmade handbags, photography, printmaking, ceramics, fiber art and more!

I was so excited to see the new artwork on display at the retail gallery that I had to get in there right away! Each year there is such a transformation from when I drop my artwork off to when the volunteer crew has arranged the artwork throughout the space. The staff and volunteers do such an amazing job, and this year was no different.  I had to take a few images to share with y'all! Can you believe the variety of quality artwork available in northeast Iowa?

Is it just me, or would anything from the Left Bank make the perfect Mother's Day gift? :)
